Green ♻️ 🌱 gardening tip: These common items might actually be valuable tools!

Plastic containers and lids ➡️ Soil scoopers, pot saucers.
Cardboard TP rolls, egg cartons ➡️ Seed starters.
Coffee grounds ➡️ A nitrogen boost for compost.

How do you reuse in your garden?

When you're done, you can recycle empty, clean clear plastic containers and clamshells. Cardboard can only be recycled if it's clean and dry, but you can compost cardboard used as seed starters along with your coffee grounds and other home compost.

#TaxDay tip: Shredded paper is "dreaded paper" at material recovery facilities. It is NOT recyclable. The tiny pieces float around like confetti, or turn into pulp if wet.

Many cities and towns have local shredding events for paper. Check with yours: Link in bio.

You can also add shredded paper to home compost with a little water. Just make sure it's regular (non-glossy) paper and free of any plastic (like envelope windows).

When in doubt, check the Recyclopedia: https://bit.ly/3wDe4Tl

It’s #NationalLibraryWeek! One of the many reasons we love libraries? 😍 They encourage reuse! Lots of libraries even have a “Library of Things” where you can check out items like tools, games, kitchenware, tech equipment, outdoor gear, and more. This way, you can borrow something you might only use once instead of buying it, or “try before you buy.”
